Friends Of Saratoga County Animal Shelter
Friends of the Saratoga County Animal Shelter (FSCAS) is a non-profit volunteer organization established in 2007 to help the shelter and the animals it serves. As the fundraising arm of the shelter, Friends host benefits for the lost or abandoned animals that need temporary housing and care until they are adopted into a loving forever home.
As the promoting arm of the shelter, Friends educates the public about all the services offered by the shelter as well as all the fundraising events that help make the shelter made the animals comfortable and adoptable.
Two initiatives that concern Friends at this time is (1) to underwrite expensive surgeries and other special medical therapies needed by some shelter animals, and (2) providing educational materials for young people to learn about the shelter and animal care. Other projects that FSCAS have supported include helping with a spay/neuter program before the new shelter with its medical facilities was opened in 2010, providing cats with cat beds and dogs with stress reducing sturdy chew toys, sending shelter employees to educational conferences on the latest developments in shelter care, and representing the shelter at county fairs, dog walks, blessing of the animals events, and other community gatherings. Mohawk Honda
Our cat adoption section is sponsored by Mohawk Honda. These are great animal lovers who support our homeless felines. They funded the spaying and neutering of all our cats starting in 2007 until we began to spay and neuter at the shelter. During this time they paid for 1500 spays and neuters. We want to express our appreciation to them. We also want to thank the vets who did the surgeries, The Haven Animal Hospital, Hearthstone Veterinary Hospital, and Ballston Spa Vet Clinic. Pet Connection – NEWS 10, hosted by Steve Caporizzo
Pet Connection airs on Monday and Thursday during the 5:30 news cast. The goal through Pet Connection is to find loving homes for abandoned dogs and cats.
